Rep. Leo Daughtry Announces He Will Not Seek Re-Election

Leo-Daughtry-FILate-Tuesday, Representative Leo Daughtry (R- Johnston) announced he would not seek re-election for the 2017 – 2018 term in the North Carolina House of Representatives.  He will complete his current term through the end of 2016.

“I am profoundly grateful to the people of Johnston County for allowing me to serve them since 1989.   I am also grateful to the members of the General Assembly on both sides of the aisle for their friendship over the years.”

Representative Daughtry is the second most senior member of the House, and has served in both chambers of the General Assembly.  He became active in politics in 1976 and was elected to the NC Senate in 1989.  Representative Daughtry currently serves as Chairman of the House Appropriations on Justice and Public Safety and the House Judiciary I Committees.  In previous terms, he served as House Majority and House Minority Leader.

Representative Daughtry founded Daughtry, Woodard, Lawrence, & Starling in Smithfield.  He will continue practicing law and remain active in the community.
