Report: Man Tried To Pass $2,000 In Counterfeit Money

CLAYTON – A suspect has been arrested for allegedly trying to pass $2,000 in counterfeit bills at an area Food Lion.   A joint investigation by the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office and Clayton Police resulted in the arrest of 24 year-old Arlando Devon Turner of Wake Forest.

On February 29th, Turner reportedly tried to send a Western Union money order from the Food Lion on Neuse River Parkway near Clayton and pay for the transaction with 20 fake $100 bills.  Turner also provided a fake identification to employees.

Employees determined the money was counterfeit and refused to accept the payment.  Turner left before officers arrived.

Turner was arrested last week and charged with obtaining property by false pretenses, identity theft, uttering a forged instrument, and felony probation violation.
