Wilson’s Mills residents had a lot of questions for NC Department of Transportation representatives during a public meeting Tuesday at Wilson’s Mills Elementary School.
Residents learned about the DOT’s plans to install bridges over US 70 at Swift Creek Road and Wilson’s Mills Road, as well as building ramps and service roads that would improve access at the intersections for local traffic.
Some residents were hesitant to embrace the project while others said it was inevitable.
The DOT is looking to improve traffic flow along US 70 through Johnston County while maintaining access along the US 70 corridor. The improvements would carry Swift Creek Road and Wilson’s Mills Road traffic over US 70.
The DOT said all comments received during Tuesday’s three hour meeting would be considered in the project design selection process.
Written comments about the project can still be submitted by mail or email through Tuesday, Feb. 16. Contact NCDOT Project Planning Engineer Kim Gillespie atklgillespie@ncdot.gov. Written comments may be submitted to Gillespie at 1548 Mail Service Center, Raleigh, 27699-1548. Photos by John Payne
