Starting Monday, July 13, work will begin on a NC Department of Transportation project to mill and repave about two miles of N.C. 42/Ward Boulevard in the Town of Wilson.
The repaving will take place along N.C. 42/Ward Boulevard between Raleigh Road Parkway and Tilghman Road. Work is expected to be finished by the end of July, weather permitting. One lane in each direction of the five-lane road will be closed while work is taking place, allowing the road to remain open to traffic during the project.
The existing pavement in this location is in need of repair. Crews with S.T. Wooten Corp. will mill up existing pavement and replace it with new pavement. Pavement preservation is like changing the oil in your car, as basic maintenance can help avoid more expensive repairs later.
A $1.4 million contract was awarded to S.T. Wooten Corp. of Wilson for this work. The contract also included repaving N.C. 58 between the Wilson City Limits and the US. 264 bridge. This work was completed in late June.
Motorists are advised to use caution while traveling in the area and to expect delays.
