Jenny Durko was named the principal of River Dell Elementary at the May Johnston County Board of Education meeting, effective June 7.
Durko has served Johnston County Public Schools as an educator for 20 years, the last 10 of those serving as both a teacher and an administrator at River Dell Elementary.
“I am truly honored to serve as the Principal at River Dell Elementary,” said Durko. “River Dell is a school of wonderful students, parents, and staff and I look forward to a bright future ahead.”
After being a part of the school community for the last decade, Durko has built a strong working relationship with the students, staff, and families at River Dell Elementary.
“We are so pleased to have Ms. Durko step into this role,” said Johnston County Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Eric Bracy. “This school community will benefit greatly from having a woman of her caliber serving as its leader. I look forward to being a part of the great things she will accomplish.”
Durko holds a Masters in School Administration from East Carolina University. She is a former finalist for the Flame for Learning Teacher of the Year Award, as well as a former recipient of the Clayton Chamber of Commerce Superstar Teacher Award, and the Johnston County Public Schools Leading with the Heart Award.
