A Johnston County man has been charged with a robbery in the parking lot of a convenience store.
Ricky Lee Sandy, 30, of the 200 block of Massengill Pond Road, Angier was arrested Tuesday morning and charged with felony common law robbery.
On February 5th, a Benson man told deputies he had listed a grass edger for sale on an internet website. A person responded to his ad and requested to meet at the Sheetz on Highway 210 at McGee’s Crossroads to make the purchase. When the 50 year-old victim arrived, he said the suspect grabbed the edger, punched him in the face, then fled.
Sandy was arrested Tuesday morning after calling the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office to report an incident. When deputies arrived they took him into custody on the outstanding robbery warrant. He confined in the Johnston County Jail under a $40,000.
