Seventh District U.S. Congressman David Rouzer (R-NC) called President Donald Trump’s nomination of Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court a great choice.
Gorsuch was named Tuesday night as the successor to the late Antonin Scalia.
“Justice Gorsuch has a tremendous track record on the bench,” Congressman Rouzer said Wednesday afternoon. “His strong academic credentials, brilliant legal mind and demonstrated commitment to adhering to the Constitution make him an outstanding nominee. I look forward to his confirmation by the U.S. Senate.”
Gorsuch, who is 49, is currently serving on the 10th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Denver, a position he has held for the past decade.
His nomination is expected to be opposed by Democrats in the Senate.
