WILMINGTON – Congressman David Rouzer (NC-07) issued a statement today after President Donald J. Trump nominated Judge Amy Coney Barrett of the U.S. Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals to fill the vacancy on the U.S. Supreme Court:
“President Trump has made an outstanding choice is nominating Judge Barrett to the U.S. Supreme Court,” said Congressman Rouzer. “A graduate of Notre Dame Law School, Judge Barrett is a terrific choice having clerked for the late Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia – the great conservative, textualist voice on the bench of the last four decades. She was confirmed to the federal bench on a bipartisan basis and is, to date, the only woman to serve in an Indiana seat on the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals.”
“Throughout her entire career she has demonstrated a commitment to interpreting the law and the Constitution as it is written — based on an interpretation of the words of the Constitution as they were understood and used by our Founders. The Senate should confirm her without delay,” said Rouzer.
