Rouzer’s IRS Bill Passes House, Heads To Senate

David-Rouzer-Headshop-udated-InsideOn Wednesday, House Bill 1206, the No Hires for the Delinquent IRS Act, authored by Congressman David Rouzer (R-NC) passed the House of Representatives where it now heads to the floor of the Senate.  H.R. 1206 incentivizes the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to verify and ensure that current employers are paying their taxes.

“Today we found who stands with the American people and who stands with the federal bureaucracy.  No IRS employee should be above the law, nor should they be treated any differently than anyone else filing their taxes.  The No Hires for the Delinquent IRS Act will help ensure IRS employees pay their taxes just like every other law-abiding citizen.”

A report conducted by the IRS’ Inspector General last year found that there are hundreds of employees who have failed to follow IRS guidelines when filing their own tax returns.  The report found that there are at least five IRS employees who intentionally failed to file their taxes.

H.R. 1206 passed the House of Representatives by 254-170.  The bill now heads to the U.S. Senate for consideration.
