The NC Department of Public Safety is sponsoring a Safety Fair on Friday, November 15th. The Fair is being hosted by the UPES Pentecostal congregation at Wilson’s Mills Baptist Church, located at 652 Swift Creek Road, Smithfield. The fair is scheduled from 7:00pm-9:30pm.
“The goal for this event is to build better partnerships between law enforcement and community members,” said Clyde Roper, Communications Officer with the NC Department of Public Safety (NC DPS). “There will be representatives from the Highway Patrol to answer traffic-related and other safety questions; DMV License and Theft will be on hand to answer driver’s license and vehicle registration questions; a law firm will be available to field legal questions; retired Raleigh Police Department Major Rick Huffman will present on human trafficking. State Capitol Police officers and K9s will be there and refreshments and snacks will be served.”
In addition to meeting local law enforcement officers, getting free legal advice or help with driver’s license and vehicle registration, kids can also pet a police dog and adults can learn about available NC DPS jobs.
The family friend event is free of charge and open the public.
