CLINTON – A Sampson County rest area is scheduled to open this week and will remain open through the fall.
The rest area located on the northbound side of U.S. 421, about 10 miles south of Clinton, will reopen this afternoon. It has been closed since Jan. 31, 2020.
The rest area will be open to travelers April through October, staffed 8 hours a day and open to the public 24 hours a day. This will be the first time this rest area operates seasonally, accommodating peak travel season.
Rest areas give motorists the opportunity to take a convenient, brief stop and provide easy roadside access to public restrooms.
