PRINCETON – A new sand pit will be in operation in the near future on Williford Road, not far from the Wayne County line.
Johnston County Commissioners approved a request by Blue Water Sand & Gravel Inc. to operate a sand pit on a 66 acre tract of land in the Bentonville township. The county rezoned the property from Agricultural Residential to Industrial 2-Conditional Zoning to be used for sand mining.
No one spoke in opposition of the request during the March 6 public hearing.
