Sara Larson Promoted To Wayne County Human Resources Director

GOLDSBORO – Wayne County has promoted Sara Larson to human resources director, filling the vacancy as Human Resources Director Ginger Moore moves to the assistant county manager position. Larson will start her new role on October 1, 2022, with an annual salary of $100,000.

“If you haven’t had the pleasure of working with Sara already, you will quickly discover that she is knowledgeable, talented, motivated, and detail-oriented,” said Ginger Moore, human resources director. “I know our current and future employees will enjoy working with her, and she will continue pushing the department forward.”

Larson grew up in Darlington County, South Carolina, and graduated from Western Governors University with a Bachelor of Arts in Education and a Master of Science in Management and Leadership. Her professional background includes multiple levels of management and leadership in federal, state, and local government since 2010. She joined Wayne County as the assistant human resources director in September 2019 after her family was stationed at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base. In 2021, she was awarded the Senior Certified Professional Certification from the International Public Management Association for Human Resources.
