Saturday Proclaimed Clayton Band Classic Day

The Clayton Town Council adopted a resolution Monday night proclaiming Saturday, October 17th as Clayton Band Classic Day in the Town of Clayton.

The Clayton Band Classic competition started in 1986 between high school marching bands to increase student interest, bring out the students musical talents, and to create pride for the Clayton Comets band.

The 29th annual event will take place on October 17th at Clayton High School.

The Clayton Band Classic has won numerous awards including the 6 time National Regional Finalists at the Bands of America Event, 2005 NC State Champions at the US Scholastic Band Association, multiple Time Grand Champions at various local competitions, the 2998 Winter Guard International (WGI) Color Guard Finalists, 2007 WGI Open Percussion Bronze Medalist, 2009 WGI Open Percussion Silver Medalist, 2013 WGI Open Percussion World Champion Gold Medalist, as well as 6 Superior Ratings in Music Performance Assessment.
