RALEIGH — The North Carolina Chamber has named Sen. Benton Sawrey (R-Johnston) a “Jobs Champion” in its 2025 How They Voted report, which highlights state lawmakers’ voting records on legislation the Chamber considers critical to maintaining North Carolina’s status as the nation’s top state for business. Sawrey received the designation for voting in alignment with the Chamber’s Jobs Agenda 100% of the time during the 2025 legislative session.

“I’m honored to have been awarded the NC Chamber’s 2025 Jobs Champion designation,” Sawrey said. “North Carolina succeeds when we maintain reasonable regulations, support a strong workforce, and give job creators the certainty they need to invest in our own people. I’ll keep working to ensure Johnston County — and our entire state — remains the best place to live, work, and build a business.”

NC Chamber President and CEO Gary Salamido said lawmakers recognized as Jobs Champions play a key role in sustaining the state’s competitive edge.

“As we work to protect and advance North Carolina’s standing as a top state for business, job creators rely on leaders who take decisive action to keep our state competitive,” Salamido said. “The leadership demonstrated by this year’s Jobs Champions strengthens North Carolina’s ability to grow, attract investment, and expand opportunities for families and communities across North Carolina.”

Sawrey also earned a 100% Objective Free Enterprise Rating from the North Carolina Free Enterprise Foundation (NCFREE), which he said reflects his commitment to advancing conservative, free-market policies.

“Earning a perfect 100% objective rating from NCFREE is a reflection of my commitment to conservative, free market policies,” Sawrey said. “I’ll keep working to cut red tape, protect property rights, and promote a small business climate that lets every North Carolinian chase the American Dream.”
