The Harnett County Sheriff’s Office announced Friday they have received numerous reports from citizens who received scam calls today from a man giving the name Captain Brad Stevens with the Harnett County Sheriff’s Office Civil Division.
The telephone scammer tells the victim they have failed to show up for jury duty in Harnett County and threatens the victims with arrest if they do not pay a fine.
The scammer then gives instructions to the victim on how to obtain prepaid cards and transfer as payment. Authorities say this is a scam.
Sheriff Wayne Coats says to be aware of any individual claiming to be a law enforcement representative attempting to collect any type of payment over the phone.
