Johnston County School Board member Keith Branch announced Tuesday he would not seek re-election to the Board of Education in 2016. Instead he will run for the Johnston County Commissioners seat being vacated by Tony Braswell of Pine Level.
“As most of you know County Commissioner Tony Braswell announced last week his intentions to seek NC House of Representative seat 28,” Branch said. “He has played an integral role in the successes of Johnston County the last eleven years and will be greatly missed. His concern and care of our citizens is obvious based on the leadership he has portrayed in his role as County Commissioner for District 6. I would like to personally thank him for his service in this capacity and for his friendship.”
“After much prayer, thought, and discussion with family, friends, and Commissioner Braswell, it is with great excitement that I announce I am a candidate for the Johnston County Board of Commissioners’ District 6 seat. As a two term Board of Education member, I feel the next normal progression in my career of public service would be that of County Commissioner. The experience gained and relationships formed by me as a member of the Board of Education will serve as an asset to the Board of Commissioners and citizens of Johnston County.”
Branch spent 10 years as an employee in the NC State Auditor’s Office and 17 years in the insurance industry.
“Being a lifelong resident of Johnston County, my top priority as a County Commissioner will be to insure that I do my part to continue to make our county great.”
