School Board Member Files Lawsuit Against Johnston County School Board And Board Chair

SMITHFIELD – A lawsuit was filed this afternoon (Tuesday) against the Johnston County Board of Education and School Board Chair Lyn Andrews.

School board member Michelle Antoine of Clayton filed the lawsuit in Johnston County Superior Court. After the lawsuit was filed, her attorney, Steven Walker, filed a motion to temporarily have the civil complaint sealed.

Superior Court Judge Thomas Lock signed the order sealing the complaint and related motions, and any temporary restraining order entered in the matter, according to online court records.

According to a Motion to Seal Complaint filed by Antoine’s attorney, “The document that plaintiff request to be sealed is the document filed in this matter provisionally under seal captioned: Verified Complaint: “Motion for Temporary Restraining Order and Motion for Preliminary Injunction” and any Temporary Restraining Order entered in response to that filing.”

“Sealing of these documents is warranted because the filing contains information that, the release of which, would constitute a publishing of defamatory material against plaintiff and would irreparably harm plaintiff. There is no reasonable alternative to sealing the document, as it is the only alternative that prevents further harm against plaintiff.”

“The document should be made available to counsel of record, and may be made available to the parties, with strict confidentiality in place. The document should be sealed until further order of the Court, but at least until a hearing on plaintiff’s motion for preliminary injunction is decided by the court,” according to the three-page document.

No additional information about the lawsuit, or what it involves, has been disclosed.

The Johnston County School Board is scheduled to meet this afternoon (Tuesday) at 4:00pm for their regularly scheduled meeting.

  1. If you’re ashamed of a document that you filed with the court and want it hidden from public view, maybe you really shouldn’t have filed the court case. #SueSueSue

    • Tell the truth… You are usually right one with your comments. On this, if I filed a lawsuit against these players, I wouldn’t want them to get it out either. They can’t be trusted, and still have some still on the board.

      • @concerned: Sorry, but I disagree. “Secret” filings only serve to breed distrust. If you’re afraid to publicly say something, maybe that should tell you something.

  2. Folks you guys needs to remember that Ma Andrews is the one along with the “teachers union teacher-Terri Sessoms” and $180-K-Carroll and “Man of God-Mike Wooten” that kept your children suffocating in those dam masks! With the help of our Terry”Judas” Tippett they are coming back with all those Covid-19 restrictions and are not giving up to where the 8 or 10 million dollars went to come Hell or High Water?

    • Folks, I have had a call and have been reminded that I am to refer to Mike Wooten as MIKE “SUPERBOWl1987”Wooten!!! I think I rather have that request than a cease and desist letter!!!

    • Fruit Loop, You are correct. This board is shady and they want everyone that is not with them out. . Big disappointments. Always wondered what they did with that money.

  3. The board has been a mess since Fred B retired (of blessed memory). Vote them all out. Well anyone but that ruck mercier creep.

  4. JCPS continues to be an embarrassment. It doesn’t seem to matter who gets voted onto the board, endless S&!#Show.

  5. This is what happens when you allow the school board to become a political stepping stone. It’s time for Ron Johnson and Michelle Antoine to go. They are cost the JOCO taxpayers to much money.

  6. I know what’s going on, LA and KC and MW are up to their old tricks, they did it to one now they’re trying to do it again.
