SMITHFIELD – A Johnston County public school bus was involved in a traffic accident Monday afternoon. The collision occurred on Brogden Road, near Brogden School Road, not far from the Brogden Fire Department.
Seven students were on board bus number 180, from Princeton Middle/High School, when it was struck by a passenger car.
Initial reports indicate the passenger car was traveling on Brodgen Road and was passing illegally in a no passing zone when it met the school bus.
The driver of the passenger car was pinned in her vehicle. She was extricated by Brogden Fire personnel before she was transported by Johnston County EMS to WakeMed for treatment. Her condition was not immediately available.
The school bus driver was transported to the hospital with minor injuries. None of the seven students on the bus were injured.
The State Highway Patrol is investigating the 3:00pm accident. Brogden Road was closed at the accident site for more than two hours before reopening.
