A Johnston County school bus was involved in a three vehicle crash at 3:10pm Monday on Highway 42 at Technology Drive at the entrance to Cleveland Commons.
According to the NC Highway Patrol, a 2011 Hyundai SUV driven by Macy Brooke Adams, 26, of Charleston, SC was on Technology Drive attempting to make a left turn onto Highway 42. Adams struck the side of a Clayton Middle school bus traveling on Highway 42 and driven by Jacqueline Virginia Cariss, 54, of Clayton. Debris from the impact struck a Harley Davidson motorcycle traveling beside the bus. The operator of the motorcycle was identified as James Henry Platt, 84, of Willow Spring.
No injuries were reported.
There were 15 students on the bus at the time of the accident, according to Crystal Roberts, Chief of Communication and Engagement for Johnston County Public Schools.
Damage to the Hyundai was estimated at $7,700. Damage to the Freightliner school bus was placed at $5,500. Damage to the Harley Davidson was $250, according to an accident report.
Trooper V.E. Rivera investigated the collision. According to the accident report, Adams failed to yield to the school bus causing the mishap.
