One person was sent to the hospital following a three vehicle accident involving a Johnston County school bus Wednesday afternoon. The accident happened on Peedin Avenue in Downtown Pine Level.
Initial reports indicate a car was traveling on Peedin Avenue and struck a parked vehicle. The impact caused the car to overturn on its side, then slide into the school bus traveling in the opposite direction.
The driver of the overturned car was briefly trapped inside his vehicle. Pine Level fire crews responded to the scene and extricated the driver by removing him through the windshield area. No one was inside the parked car.
Bus number 447, assigned to North Johnston Middle and North Johnston High School, was carrying one student at the time it was struck. Both the student and driver were uninjured.
The driver of the overturned car was rushed by ambulance to Wake Medical Center for treatment.
