School Buses Involved In Minor Accidents

It was a bumpy start for two buses headed to school Tuesday morning.

Bus number 284 was headed to Selma Elementary when it was involved in a minor accident on South Sharpe Street at East Watson Street in Selma. Selma Police are still investigating the incident. Two students were on board at the time but there were no injuries.

Bus number 458 was involved in a separate accident on Richardson Bass Road. The bus had 11 students on board from North Johnston Middle and High Schools. While stopped on Richardson Bass Road, the Highway Patrol says the bus was rear ended by a car driven by 18 year-old Hannah Lassiter of Princeton.

Lassiter was cited by Trooper C.M. McGinnis with failure to reduce speed. Damage to her car was placed at $1,000 and damage to the bus at $100.  No injuries were reported.

Parents were contacted by school administrators about the incidents.
