The Highway Patrol is continuing their search for a hit and run driver that seriously injured a moped operator. The accident happened just Thursday morning on Highway 39 near Creech Johnson Road.
Carl William Holmes, 39, of Zebulon was traveling southbound on Highway 39 and headed to work when he was struck from behind by another vehicle traveling in the same direction. After the collision, the suspect vehicle fled from the scene, never stopping to check on Holmes who was ejected into a ditch.
Holmes was taken to Wake Medical Center in Raleigh for treatment of serious but non-life threatening injuries. The NC Highway Patrol Accident Reconstruction Team responded to the scene to collected evidence and parts torn from the hit and run vehicle. A description of the vehicle has not yet been released.
