SMITHFIELD – A second person has been arrested for the alleged sexual assault of a mentally disabled juvenile.
Tonya Marie Werner, age 40, of N. Seventh Street, Smithfield was arrested Nov. 21 by the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office. Werner was charged with three counts of sexual servitude, three counts of sexual acts by a substitute parent or custodian, and one count of first-degree forcible sex offense.
On Nov. 17, Joshua Lawrence Turner, age 38, of the same address, was charged with two counts of second degree forcible sex offense and two counts of sexual act by a substitute parent or custodian. Turner was convicted in 2004 of taking indecent liberties with two children and is on the NC Sex Offender Registry.
Werner and Turner are charged with sex crimes against the same juvenile that reportedly occurred on or about November 1, 2023.
Werner is being held in the Johnston County Detention Center under a $1,375,000 secured bond. Turner is jailed under a $1 million secured bond.
This is sick on so many levels. The removal of all distinctly sexual organs seems fitting.
