SELMA – The Town of Selma will be updating their street signs. The Selma Town Council authorized the placement of the new signs after the Selma Appearance Commission approved the new design.

Interim Town Manager Phillip McDaniel said the new signs would be installed starting in the next 30-45 days. It will replace existing green street signs.

McDaniel said if the street is a state maintained road, it will remain a green sign. For example, Anderson Street is a NC DOT maintained road and the sign will remain green.

The Town budgeted just over $10,000 for street sign replacements in the 2023-24 fiscal year budget. It will allow the Town to replace approximately 54 signs, posts and brackets this fiscal year. The remaining signs will be replaced over the next two to three years.

    • @Steve: The people of Selma choose to re-elect the mayor and town council. They made their choice. #VotingHasConsquences #TakeResponsibility

  1. If the town was as interested in fixing real problems instead of worrying about in town Raiford st How about the other end of Raiford st or pretty much any other street in town. Is Selma really improving or are we just trying to mask it with the cute little (main street) signs, lights, and new store fronts? totally agree with steve.
