Selma Couple Accused Of Prescription Fraud

A Selma couple is accused of passing fake prescriptions at two Smithfield pharmacies last week.

John Joseph Santos, 39, and Shekita Tyese Tate, 38, both of the 700 block of North Sumner Street, Selma were arrested Monday by Smithfield Police. Additional charges were filed against the couple on Wednesday by the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office.

Both Santos and Tate are charged with two counts each of trafficking in opium or heroin and two counts each of obtaining a controlled substance by fraud or forgery.  They were confined in the Johnston County Jail under a $60,000 bond.
