This week, authorities announced the shooting death of Mr. Lyons was an act of self-defense. The gunman, Kevin Tucker of 612 N. Pollock Street, Selma, will not face any criminal charges related to the shooting.

“I met with Selma Police Department several times during the investigation into the death of Anthony Lyons. After examining witnesses’ statements, the crime scene, physical evidence, and Kevin Tucker’s statement; we determined all evidence indicated Tucker acted in self-defense and thus no charges were warranted against him regarding Lyons’s death,” said Jason Waller, Senior Assistant District Attorney.

ADA Waller did note that Kevin Tucker was charged with possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Selma Police said Tucker was cooperative with investigators and remained at the scene after the October 6 incident.
