Selma Fire Chief Philip McDaniel introduced the newest firefighter to members of the Selma Town Council on August 8th.
Firefighter Royce Noble is the first firefighter hired by the Selma Fire Department who successfully completed an intern program started by the department three years ago.
Chief McDaniel said the intern program provides gear, equipment, insurance and fee waivers to firefighting classes at Johnston Community College. McDaniel called the intern program innovative and successful.
Noble, 23, is from Archer Lodge. He is a second generation firefighter. His father recently retired from the Raleigh Fire Department.
