A Selma man was arrested by Smithfield police officers after being caught with narcotics in his vehicle.
Around 11:40 pm Tuesday, police were called to check on a suspicious person at CVS Pharmacy on North Brightleaf Boulevard. The individual left before police arrived but he was located in a vehicle in the parking lot of a nearby convenience store.
Police said Jacob Allen Fordham, 29, of Live Oak Church Road, had 0.3 grams of suspected methamphetamines, 0.5 grams of marijuana and 19.3 grams of pseudoephedrine in his vehicle.
Fordham was charged with felony possession of meth, felony possession of meth precursors, and misdemeanor marijuana possession. Bond was set at $54,000. His 2007 Subaru was also impounded by police.
