SELMA – Selma Police cited four store clerks July 20 after conducting an undercover alcohol campaign. Selma Police went to 21 different stores and sent a minor into each business to see if they could purchase alcohol. They were denied purchase at 17 businesses. However, four sold to the minor.
The four businesses were 70 East Mobile at 75 JR Road, Tinda Zacatepec Store at 810 S. Pollock Street, Family Dollar 107 N. Pollock Street, and Dollar General at 1130 S. Pollock Street.
Police Captain J.A. Hughes said the four clerks were charged with providing a malt or mixed beverage to a person under age 21. The clerks were cited and released at the scene.
Chief Agent Ronald Daniels with the Johnston County ABC assisted with the operation.
Captain Hughes thanked the 17 stores that followed the law and took the necessary steps to prevent underage alcohol sales.
So much easier to reach that low hanging fruit. Meth and Fentanyl require you to climb higher up the tree to stop them.
