SELMA – The Selma Police has announced the passing of K-9 Major. The death occurred Tuesday afternoon.
“It is with a heavy heart we report the passing today of Selma Police K-9 Major,” Chief W.M. Thomas said in a prepared statement. “Major had served the Town of Selma since February 2017. He was 8 years-old.”

“K-9 Major worked with his handler Justin R. Vause and kept untold numbers of citizens safe.”
“He died this afternoon unexpectedly. It is a sad day for us!,” Chief Thomas told Johnston County Report. No additional details were released on how or where Major died.
“Rest easy, K-9 Major. Thank you for your service,” Chief Thomas said.
