SELMA – In a ceremony held Tuesday night during the December meeting of the Selma Town Council, the mayor and three council members received their oath of office.
Mayor Byron McAllister and council members William Overby, Joe Scarboro and Susan Watson received their official oath from Johnston County Clerk of Court Michelle Ball.
McAllister, Overby and Scarboro were unopposed during the November General Elections.
In November, Mrs. Watson was unanimously selected by the town council to fill out the unexpired term of Bruce McKay. McKay won election in 2021 but stepped down from his council seat earlier this year when he moved out of town.
