Selma Tweaks Subdivision Rules

The Town of Selma has modified an ordinance making it easier for subdivisions to locate within their extraterritorial jurisdiction (ETJ).

Selma-NC-LogoIn a unanimous vote Tuesday night, the Selma Town Council approved a change allowing an exemption for sidewalks to be installed in subdivisions if they are outside the city limits, the typical street is fronted with a ditch, the street is less than 1,600 foot long and terminates in a cul-de-sac, the average lot size is 1 acre or more, and there is no connectivity to an existing school, park, shopping center or greenway.

Selma Planning and Economic Development Director Juliee Maybee presented the request to the board.  Wade Eason of Andrew of North Carolina, Inc. made the request. The Selma Planning Board have their approval to the change at their December 2015 and January 2016 meetings.
