A Selma woman was injured after she lost control of her 2004 Honda Pilot while traveling eastbound on Branch Chapel Church Road near her home Thursday morning.
The Highway Patrol said Phyllis Hodge Overby was about a half-mile from her home on Branch Chapel Church Road north of Selma when she ran off the right side of the rural roadway, struck a mailbox, overcorrected, then ran off the left side of the highway. The SUV struck a ditch tile and overturned on its side.
The Thanksgiving and Antioch Fire Departments responded to the scene to free Overby who was trapped inside the vehicle. After being removed she was transported by Johnston County EMS to Wake Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
Trooper C.E. Summerlin estimated Overby was traveling 50mph in a 55mph zone when the crash occurred. She was cited for failure to maintain lane control. Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $10,000.
