September 15-29 Proclaimed 2018 Fall Litter Sweep

Johnston County Commissioners have proclaimed September 15 – 29 as 2018 Fall Litter Sweep in Johnston County.

During the two week period, commissioners encourage local governments, communities, civic and professional groups, businesses, churches, school, families and individuals to participate in the NC Department of Transportation’s cleanup by sponsoring and organizing local roadside cleanups.

The cleanup emphasis the need for cleaner roadsides, the importance of not littering while encouraging recycling of solid waste.

The Fall Litter Sweep is also a celebration of the 30th anniversary of the NC Adopt-A-Highway program and its many volunteer groups that donate their labor and time year round to keep our roadsides clean.

The commissioners proclamation also says the litter sweep is important for the quality of life in Johnston County and North Carolina.
