SMITHFIELD – A man recently added to the NC Sex Offender Registry has been arrested.
Ezekiel Robert Adams Davis, age 20, of Smithfield was charged July 9 with solicitation of a child by a computer and felony probation violation.
Davis was convicted in April 2024 in Johnston County Court of 10 counts of third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor. He was placed on probation for 5 years and ordered to remain on the NC Sex Offender Registry for a minimum of 10 years.
In July 2024, Davis met with his probation officer for a scheduled appointment. As part of his probation, Davis was required to submit to a search of electronic devices. The probation officer reportedly conducted a random search of Davis’ cell phone and located inappropriate text messages.
The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office was notified and obtained a search warrant to collect information from Davis’ phone. During the search, authorities allegedly found where Davis had reportedly attempted to solicit a child.
Davis was held under an $80,000 secured bond.

Perverts never stop being perverts! He should have been locked up in general population in April 2024, he would’ve seen what real sexual exploitation is.
People like him shouldn’t be let behind bars and be back on the streets. When, he was let out the first, they (the courts) should have known that there was a good chance that he’ll go back to his ways. This time, if the courts go back to his records and see that he’s been doing the same thing. The court should lock him for good and the staff should not have his key to let him out, not even for him to go to the cafeteria or showers. It’s been well known that people whose been serving time, the one thing they do not like is child molesters, they the worst of the worst and you know what happens to them. On the child side, it’ll have a long term effects on them they wouldn’t forget. I’ve been through the same thing myself for a year. I was molested for over a year when I was a kid and it stills taunted me. I was it was an older girl who was in her teens and I was under 10 years of age (7-8 years old).
That’s the court system that we have now. Pathetic, I’ll say.
