Johnston County Sheriff Steve Bizzell has announced the promotions of six employees.
The promotions, which took effect August 1st, were made following the July 31st retirements of Lt. Gary Bridges and Detective Kevin Massengill and the upcoming retirement this Fall of Captain David Daughtry.
Lt. Ed Little was promoted to Captain of the Civil/Court Security Division. He will work with Captain Daughtry until Daughtry’s retirement. Little began work in September 1991 as a deputy sheriff, a school resource officer at North Johnston High, a detective and as a sergeant and lieutenant in the Civil Division.
Sgt. Toni Alford was promoted to Lieutenant of the Civil Division. Alford started as an administrative assistant in October 1995 and became a deputy sheriff in August 2001. She was promoted to detective, then to sergeant in the Civil Division.
S.A.F.E. Team Deputy Brian Clifton was promoted to Lieutenant of the Patrol Division and will supervise the A Squad. Clifton joined the department in July 1999 as a deputy sheriff. He later became a detective, patrol sergeant, and then a member of the S.A.F.E. Team and K-9 handler.
Deputy Joey Harrell has been promoted to a detective in the Property Crimes Division.
Deputy Jordan Haddock has been promoted to a detective in the Narcotics Division.
Jamie Ferrell has been promoted to Lieutenant of Support Services in the Jail Division. Ferrell was hired in June 2006 as a detention officer and was promoted to detention sergeant in the jail in 2011.
“It is with great pride that I have promoted these employees to help continue the legacy and provide the superior public safety that our citizens have become accustomed to and are so deserving of,” Sheriff Bizzell said. “I look forward to working with each of these co-workers in their new roles.”
