Johnston County Sheriff Steve Bizzell had donated 100 surplus computers to Johnston County Schools.
The Dell Latitude E6430 laptop computers were recently replaced with newer models and are no longer needed by deputies.
After discussions with Dr. Ross Renfrow, the superintendent agreed the computers could be used by school students.
Dr. Renfrow expressed appreciation to the Sheriff for the laptops.
“We would like to thank Sheriff Bizzell for thinking of our public school students,” Dr. Renfrow told WTSB News on Thursday. “His generosity is greatly appreciated and will make a positive impact on teaching and learning in our district. The donation will only help in furthering our JoCo2020 Initiative. This is a great example of what occurs when we all work together!”
The donation was formally approved by Johnston County Commissioners.
