Sheriff’s Office Executes Search Warrant, Charges Wendell-Area Couple

JOHNSTON COUNTY — A northern Johnston County couple is facing drug charges following the execution of a narcotics search warrant at their home, according to the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies with the sheriff’s office narcotics division served the warrant Jan. 30 at a residence in the 400 block of Mudham Road, south of Wendell in Johnston County.

During the search, investigators reportedly located approximately 3 grams of cocaine, 13 grams of marijuana and various items classified as drug paraphernalia.

Following the search, Matthews Williams, 38, and Latish Deavone Williams, 47, both of Mudham Road, were arrested. Each was charged with felony possession with intent to sell or deliver cocaine, felony maintaining a vehicle or dwelling place for a controlled substance, misdemeanor possession of marijuana and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

Matthew Williams was held under a $75,000 secured bond, while Latisha Williams received a $40,000 secured bond. Both were transported to the Johnston County Detention Center.
