Sheriff’s Office Seeks Information After Solar Farm Vandalized

WILLOW SPRING — Copper thieves caused extensive damage to a solar farm in the Willow Spring community, resulting in an estimated $200,000 in damage and repair costs.

The damage occurred sometime between Dec. 12 and Dec. 21 at the solar facility on White Memorial Church Road. Investigators said someone cut a hole in a chain-link fence to gain access to the property.

A contractor later discovered that numerous electrical wires had been cut. Authorities said many of the wires were taken from the site, while some were left near the edge of a security fence.

No suspects have been identified, and the investigation remains ongoing.

Anyone with information about the theft is urged to contact the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office.
