Shooting Of Clayton Man Ruled Accidental

The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office is treating the shooting of a Clayton man as accidental.

Around 5:30 PM Saturday, deputies were called to the 4800 block of Antioch Church Road outside of Kenly for a report of a shooting.  The 25 year-old victim, Anthony James Demma, was targeting practicing with several other people when he accidentally shot himself in the leg, according to Tammy Amaon, Public Information Officer, with the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office.

He was transported to Johnston Medical Center in Smithfield for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. No charges are expected to be filed.
