An arrest has been made in a shooting last week in rural Wayne County. On August 29th, deputies responded to a report that three people had been shot during a robbery on Carraway Creek in the Dudley Community.
Officers arrived and determined the shootings were domestic related and not the result of a robbery.
The male occupant of the home, Danielle Duboris Vann, 35, was found outside the residence suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg. Two women were found in the home. Valencia Nukieta Hussey, 31, of Dudley and her mother, 66 year-old Isephine Lofton Garner of Mount Olive were also wounded.
All three were taken to Wayne Memorial Hospital for treatment of their gunshot injuries.
On Tuesday, authorities announced they arrested Vann upon his release from the hospital. He was charged with two counts of attempted first-degree murder for the shootings of the two female victims. He was confined in the Wayne County Jail under a $1 million bond.
A motive was not released but officials believe Valencia Hussey left the residence the night before the shootings to stay at another home. When she returned Aug. 29th with her mother to collect some of her personal belongings, Danielle Vann allegedly confronted the women with a firearm at which time Hussey was shot in the chest and Garner in the neck. Authorities have not said how Vann was shot.
