Detectives are investigating a shooting incident near Downtown Smithfield. Around 7:40pm Wednesday, officers responded to a report of multiple shots being fired in the 200 block of North Fourth Street.
Police located numerous shell casings in the roadway. Officers cordoned off the street with crime scene tape.

Captain R. Sheppard said no injuries were reported and the incident remains under investigation.
