Sign Stolen From Meadow Christmas Lights Recovered

The Meadow Lights are one of the largest and oldest Christmas light shows in North Carolina.  The popular attraction draws tens of thousands of people each Christmas to southern Johnston County.

On Saturday, someone stole a blue and yellow metal sign valued at $7,000 from one of the scenes.  Hours later the sign was located for sale on Facebook Marketplace for $3,500.

Johnston County deputies tracked the online listing to Asheboro. Randolph County deputies responded to an address and seized the stolen sign.  The seller told authorities he had purchased the sign a few hours earlier for $2,100.

The sign has been returned to Meadow Lights.   The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office and Randolph County Sheriff’s Office are jointly investigating the incident.  At last report, no charges had been filed.
