SJHS Chapter Places In National FFA Competition

FOUR OAKS – The South Johnston High School FFA Chapter recently competed at the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Previously, the South Johnston FFA Food Science & Technology Team earned first place in the North Carolina FFA Food Science & Technology State Contest. At the National FFA Convention, they earned the Gold Team distinction by placing 7th nationally. This is the first time in school history the placed in the Top 10.

Food Science & Technology Team members include: Adam Miller – Gold Individual; Morgan Simpson – Gold Individual; Kara Allen – Silver Individual; Joshua Williams – Silver Individual; and Advisor – John Ross Robertson.

Adam Miller was also the second highest scoring individual in the nation in the Food Science & Technology Competition

The Farm & Agribusiness Management Team placed in the top 50 percent in the nation earning them Silver Team distinction. The specific placing will be announced at a later date. Team members include: Jackson Durham – Gold Individual; Hannah Freeman – Silver Individual; Emily Pope – Bronze Individual; Lanie Durham – Bronze Individual; and Advisor Cindy Adams.

SJHS FFA Chapter Vice President Chloe Sharpe represented North Carolina FFA as a National Delegate

The South Johnston FFA was also recognized as a 3 Star FFA National Chapter. Only three percent of chapters across the nation receive this honor. This is the second year in a row that the chapter has won this award
