SMITHFIELD – Police in Smithfield are investigating a smash and grab robbery at a local jewelry store.
It happened Saturday, October 12 just minutes before Zales Jewelry closed for the day. Around 7:56pm, two unknown suspects rushed into the business, on Outlet Center Drive, and ordered the employees to the floor.
Armed with a hammer and hatchet, the suspects shattered several glass display cases and stole approximately $100,000 in jewelry. Both suspects fled on foot.

Actually has happened multiply times according to JoCo Report. They definitely need a security gurad at the door.
