SMITHFIELD – One person sustained minor injuries in a two car accident just before 11:00am today (Tuesday). The collision occurred at the intersection of N. Brightleaf Boulevard and Booker Dairy Road.
Johnston County EMS, Smithfield Fire and Smithfield Police responded.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
The lights there need to be changed .
The light works just fine. It doesn’t hold very long on the Booker Dairy Side but that’s the only annoying thing about that light. The issues are 1) people don’t stop on red 2) people don’t pay attention when turning in front of oncoming traffic and 3) people use the gas station parking lot CONSTANTLY to avoid the light. All of those things are covered by statute and can be ticketed. It’s a driver issue and not a light issue.
The truck ran the light and hit the white car .. My husband and I was at the light coming from Lowe’s
Sj that is exactly what happened. I was sitting at the red light in front of Lowe’s ready to turn left when the truck came by and hit the car.
