The Smithfield Town Council approved the following board appointments during their September meeting:
- Monique Austin was reappointed to Board of Adjustment for a second term
- Jan Branch was reappointed to the Historic Properties Commission for a sixth term
- Mary Nell Ferguson was reappointed to the Historic Properties Commission for a fourth term
- Ashley Spain was reappointed to the Planning Board as an ETJ member for a fifth term
- C. Andrew Byrd was reappointed to the Recreation Advisory Commission for a second term
- Mary Ayker, Heidi Harris, and Megan Parrish received appointment to a first term on the Library Board of Trustees
