Smithfield Police are investigating two break-ins this week but say they are not connected.
Around 8:45am Tuesday, members of the Disabled American Veterans discovered where someone had entered their offices at 1500 Buffalo Road. Once inside the suspect or suspects stole 5 veterans hats, two canopy tents, 24 soft drinks, a TV and DVD player. The items were valued at $730. Police said they recovered a screw driver left at the scene by the burglar.
Early Wednesday, officers responded to a residential break-in on Maple Street. Someone entered a home and removed two flat screen TV’s valued at $300.
Police said they are investigating both break-ins but don’t believe they have any connection.
