Smithfield Police are investigating two weekend business break-ins.
Around 8:30 Saturday morning, Feb. 15th, police discovered a break-in at the Bill Lynch Salon at 1270 N. Brightleaf Boulevard. Someone broke a window to gain entry. Once inside 5 Nabs and a small amount of cash was taken. Damage was placed at $200.
Sunday morning, Feb. 16th, police discovered a 5:50am break-in at Noland Supply at 100 North Ninth Street. A sledge hammer was used to break a glass entry door. The suspect fled with $2,500 in DeWalt tools. Damage to the glass door was estimated at $2,000. Police recovered the sledge hammer that was left at the scene.
